About this fanlisting

This is a fanlisting for The Fat Lady of Gryffindor Tower, whom I call Gryffindor's Guardian, since that's what she does. The Fat Lady is a portrait that guards the entrance to the Gryffindor common room in J.K. Rowling's phenomenal series Harry Potter. I'm sure that if you're here though, you already know that. ^_^

Her first appearance is in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (yes I've only read the American version, though I'd love to get my hands on a copy of Philosopher's Stone as well) and is described thus:

At the very end of the corridor hung a portrait of a very fat woman in a pink silk dress.
"Password?" she said.
"Caput Draconis," said Percy, and the portrait swung forward to reveal a round hole in the wall.

Not a very flattering first impression, I must say, though she gets a much larger role in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban when she gets slashed by Sirius and is replaced for a short time as Gryffindor's Guardian by Sir Cadogan, another of Hogwarts many magical portraits.
